North Carolina Campus Compact AmeriCorps VISTA Program

UNCG’s Office of Leadership & Civic Engagement (OLCE) is hiring a full-time AmeriCorps VISTA member to engage UNCG in the fight against hunger. This NC Hunger Corps member will serve full-time with OLCE and Spartan Open Pantry to develop campus and community-based programs that provide hunger relief, nutrition education, and access to healthy food.

Job duties include recruiting, managing, and training student volunteers, creating procedures for hunger-relief volunteer programs, supporting student leadership and participation in community service, creating publicity and outreach materials, coordinating hunger awareness events and national day of service events, and monitoring program data collection.

Candidates must apply through the AmeriCorps system here and should indicate a preference with UNCG, as several other NC campuses are also recruiting Hunger Corps members through the same portal. Candidates cannot be full-time students. This is a great gap-year option to gain professional experience before pursuing further education or careers in related fields: human services, public health, non-profit management, higher education, student affairs, etc. Read more about the Hunger Corps AmeriCorps program and other FAQ’s here.
