North Carolina Campus Compact AmeriCorps VISTA Program

Position Location: UNC Greensboro

Term Dates: Full year from start date of March 1, 2019 or ASAP

UNCG’s Office of Leadership & Civic Engagement (OLCE) is hiring an AmeriCorps VISTA member to engage UNCG in the fight against hunger. This NC Hunger Corps member will serve full-time with OLCE and Spartan Open Pantry to develop campus and community-based programs that provide hunger relief, nutrition education, and access to healthy food. Job duties include recruiting, managing, and training student volunteers, creating procedures for hunger-relief volunteer programs, supporting student leadership and participation in community service, creating publicity and outreach materials, coordinating hunger awareness events and national day of service events, and monitoring program data collection.
Candidates must have a college degree and cannot be full-time students. This is a great gap-year option to gain professional experience before pursuing further education or careers in related fields: human services, public health, non-profit management, higher education, student affairs, etc.

VISTA Benefits:

  • A stipend of $1025/month
  • $350/month in housing assistance
  • Paid parking pass
  • At the end of the service year, VISTA members can choose either a $6,095 Segal Education Award or $1,800 cash stipend.
