MLK Day of Service

Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through Service

MLK Day of Service is an annual university-wide event which takes place every January to give UNCG students an opportunity to connect to different parts of our community while honoring Dr. King’s legacy through service. Participation is free. Volunteer teams will be led by a student facilitator and transportation is provided from campus. We hope this day sparks your interest to continue to learn and serve in the Greensboro community and get involved on-campus and locally!

MLK Day of Service 2026 will take place on Saturday, January 17th from 1-5pm

Student registration is currently at full capacity. To be placed on the waitlist, email Kristina Feduik at k_feduik@uncg.edu and include whether you wanted to be placed with a student group. You will be contacted directly if a spot becomes available.

Registered participants will receive an email the week before MLK Day of Service that informs them of their site, project, and what to wear and bring with you.

This event is only for UNCG students.

Site Leader Position

Have you participated in one of our days of service before or do you have plenty of service experience? Apply to be a Site Leader! As a Site Leader for MLK Day of Service it will be your responsibility to check-in your site participants, lead them to transportation, communicate with the community partner upon arrival, serve as the site contact, and lead reflection activities (provided by OLCE) after service. Site leaders will also attend a mandatory site leader training. Apply early! Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and will close on January 6th or when filled.
